The local food dilemma

Most food movements advocate for genuinely local sourcing — food produced near where it's consumed, reducing transportation emissions and supporting local economies. The logic is sound. But egg production at commercial quality with welfare and organic standards requires specific operational conditions: appropriate climate, feed supply chain, trained workforce, veterinary infrastructure, regulatory environment.

You can't establish premium organic egg farms everywhere. Most "local eggs" in typical Indian cities come from intensive cage operations nearby — geographically local but ethically and quality-wise worse than farm-fresh eggs shipped from proper farms.

The choice many customers face: local (cage-produced, antibiotic-treated, commercial grade) or farm-fresh (organic, welfare-positive, genuinely premium) but from further away. We've tried to solve this by making one proper farm operate with local-feeling delivery experience across many geographies.

Our Saloni Village farm in Haryana is our single origin point for all eggs. From there, eggs flow through a structured logistics network that creates local-feeling delivery:

Regional hubs: Strategic partner facilities in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad — receive consolidated shipments from our farm and handle last-mile delivery to customers in their region. Same day dispatch from regional hub to customer keeps delivery fast and cold-chain compliance easy.

International hub: Dubai logistics partner for Gulf distribution. Handles last-mile to UAE, Saudi, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain via local networks.

Last-mile local feel: Customer-facing delivery in any city uses local vehicles, local staff, local contact numbers if needed. From the customer's perspective, they're served by a local team — because they are, even though production is centralised.

Why centralised production beats distributed production

Running one excellent farm serves customers better than running many mediocre farms. Reasons:

Quality control: One operation can be managed to high standards. Multiple operations inevitably have variable quality. Our customers get consistent quality regardless of their city.

Specialisation benefits: Concentrated expertise, equipment, and processes produce better outcomes than spreading resources across multiple sites.

Economic scale: One properly-scaled farm has better unit economics than multiple small farms, enabling welfare-positive practices that smaller operations couldn't sustain profitably.

Regulatory efficiency: One FSSAI license, one organic certification, one audit cycle vs managing compliance across multiple distributed locations.

Transparency: Customers can visit "the farm" — singular, specific, real. Distributed operations have "farms" that may or may not match marketing claims at any specific location.

The trade-off is transportation — eggs travel further than ultra-local operations. Our cold-chain logistics keep this manageable, with acceptable environmental footprint given the quality advantages produced.

When we can't serve your location

Honest limitation — we can't serve every Indian pin code or every global location. If your city is truly beyond our current network, we'll tell you clearly rather than accept an order we can't fulfil well.

Options if we can't serve you currently:

Request coverage expansion: Let us know. We track coverage requests and prioritise expansion based on customer demand. Your request may help add your city to our network within 6-12 months.

Wholesale to nearby city: Some customers collect from our partner warehouses in nearby cities (their choice, their transport, their cold-chain responsibility). Works for some B2B situations.

Self-arranged transport: Other customers arrange their own transport from our Haryana farm. Works for large B2B orders where you have logistics capability.

Rather than fail at delivery, we prefer honest conversations about what's possible and what isn't. If we can't serve your situation well, we'll often suggest alternatives — even if that means another supplier.

Becoming a local distributor

Minimum requirements: Established logistics capability in your target market, food supply experience, cold-chain handling capability, financial capacity for initial inventory investment.

Distribution rights: Typically exclusive for defined geographic territory with minimum volume commitments. Prevents fragmentation while ensuring our brand reaches markets efficiently.

Support provided: Marketing materials, training, ongoing operational support, quality control documentation. You're not building a business from scratch — you're extending an established brand.

Economics: Distributor margins standard for premium food distribution. Volume-based improvements as your territory grows.
