From Farm to Family

The Sahya Agro journey of purity.

Every egg you receive has travelled these five carefully-designed steps.

01

Happy Hens, Open Pastures

Our hens begin each day roaming freely across sun-drenched organic pastures, foraging on natural grains, insects, and fresh greens — living as nature intended.

02

Organic Feed & Clean Water

Supplemented with certified organic feed — a blend of whole grains, flaxseed, and mineral-rich supplements — with access to fresh, filtered water around the clock.

03

Gentle Collection

Eggs are hand-gathered from clean, cushioned nesting areas multiple times daily, ensuring each egg is handled with care from the very first moment.

04

Quality Inspection

Every egg undergoes candling and shell-strength testing. Only eggs that meet our rigorous standards for freshness, size, and integrity earn the Sahya Agro seal.

05

Eco-Packed & Delivered

Inside Our Daily Operations

A detailed look at every step.

The complete story of what happens between sunrise at our farm and the moment a Sahya Agro carton arrives at your door — every safeguard, every quality check, every careful decision.

Before sunrise: farm preparation

Our farm operations begin well before sunrise. Feed preparation teams mix the day's feed — certified organic grains measured precisely, supplements calibrated for nutritional balance, any variety-specific additions (carotenoids for Golden Yolk layers, for example) incorporated. Feed freshness matters; we prepare in small batches rather than bulk-mixing for multiple days.

Water systems receive morning inspection. Flow rates verified, cleanliness confirmed, temperature checked. Fresh filtered water reaches every drinking station before the hens wake.

Housing inspection covers every facility. Ventilation working properly. Lighting on appropriate schedule. Bedding clean and dry. Nesting boxes ready for the day's laying. Any maintenance needs flagged for immediate attention. Sanitation protocols completed overnight are verified.

By the time sunlight starts filtering into the pastures, our farm is ready for another productive day of hens doing what hens do best — living good lives and laying quality eggs.

Morning: hens on pasture

As daylight strengthens, our free-range hens move from overnight indoor housing to outdoor pasture areas. For many of our flocks, this transition is voluntary — hens walk through gates at their own pace, exploring the outdoor area based on their individual preferences.

On pasture, the hens express their full behavioural range. They scratch in soil for insects. They dust-bathe (essential for feather maintenance and parasite control). They forage for grass shoots, weeds, and small seeds. They socialise in natural group patterns, establishing their pecking order and moving together. They preen, stretch their wings, and simply exist as chickens naturally would.

This pasture time is what "free-range" actually means. Caged hens never have it. Cage-free barn-only hens don't have it either. Our hens live it every day that weather permits.

During inclement weather (heavy rain, extreme heat, dust storms), hens retreat to indoor housing where environmental conditions are controlled for their comfort. Our indoor facilities are designed for welfare — low density, ample perching areas, dust-bathing substrates, natural lighting through windows, and clean bedding.

Throughout the day: feeding, laying, monitoring

Feeding happens on a scheduled rhythm matched to hen laying cycles. Our hens eat their formulated organic feed multiple times daily, supplemented by whatever they forage on pasture. Fresh water flows continuously through automated systems we monitor closely.

Laying happens mostly in the morning for most hens, though individual variation exists. Hens walk to their preferred nesting boxes, lay their eggs on clean cushioned bedding, and return to pasture or social activities.

Our farm staff move through facilities regularly — collecting eggs from nesting areas, checking on individual birds, verifying equipment function, noting any unusual patterns. This continuous presence keeps us aware of flock health and welfare. Sick or injured birds are identified quickly and receive appropriate care.

Eggs are collected multiple times daily rather than once at day's end. Frequent collection minimises time between laying and proper storage, reducing any opportunity for quality degradation or damage. Eggs move immediately from nesting boxes to our processing facility.

On-farm processing: where quality is verified

Our on-farm processing facility receives eggs from the various farm facilities throughout the day. Here, every egg goes through multiple quality control steps before approval for sale.

Primary visual inspection catches obvious external defects — significant cracks, unusually dirty shells, irregular shapes, double-yolk indicators, unusual sizes. Eggs failing primary inspection are diverted appropriately (most become feed for our own composting operations).

Candling inspection involves passing each egg over a bright light source that illuminates the egg's interior. This reveals internal defects invisible from the outside — blood spots, meat spots, hair cracks in the shell, abnormal air cell sizes, yolk irregularities. Trained inspectors catch subtle defects that casual examination would miss.

Weight grading sorts eggs precisely into commercial size categories — Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, Jumbo. Our grading equipment achieves tight tolerances (typically under 2% variation within any stated grade). Commercial customers ordering "Large" eggs can count on consistent sizing across deliveries.

Shell integrity testing spot-checks samples from each batch for structural soundness. Any batch with concerning shell quality triggers additional investigation of the producing flock's calcium nutrition and environmental conditions.

Only eggs passing all inspection steps move forward to packaging. Typical inspection pass rates run above 98% given our farm's production quality, but the inspection process catches the exceptions before they reach customers.

Packaging: care at every touch

Approved eggs are packed immediately after inspection. Our packaging approach prioritises protection, sanitation, sustainability, and brand integrity.

Protection: Eggs are placed in cartons and trays with consistent orientation — typically pointed-end down for optimal internal structure preservation. Carton materials absorb shock during transport. Multi-egg packaging uses dividers that prevent egg-to-egg contact during handling.

Sanitation: Packaging happens in cleaned, sanitary conditions. Our packaging materials arrive sealed from suppliers and are opened only at point of use. Handling follows food safety protocols.

Sustainability: Packaging materials are 100% recycled paper pulp — biodegradable at end of life, absorbent to prevent moisture issues, structurally adequate for egg protection. We don't use plastic packaging for our primary consumer-facing eggs.

Brand integrity: Every carton is clearly branded with Sahya Agro identification, date coding, variant information, and batch traceability codes. Customers always know what they're receiving and when it was packed.

Cold storage and dispatch

Packed eggs move immediately to temperature-controlled storage awaiting dispatch. Our storage facilities maintain specific temperature and humidity conditions optimal for egg freshness preservation. Storage duration is minimised — most eggs ship within 24 hours of packing.

Dispatch operations run daily based on scheduled delivery routes. Orders are assembled according to customer-specific specifications — correct varieties, correct sizes, correct quantities, correct packaging formats. Quality check at dispatch verifies order assembly accuracy.

Delivery vehicles load in specific order matching planned route stops, allowing efficient unloading without extensive vehicle searching at each delivery point. Temperature control is maintained throughout transit through climate-controlled vehicles or insulated packaging depending on route length.

Delivery: the final mile

Our delivery logistics vary by destination. Local deliveries (within our farm region) happen via our own delivery vehicles with our own drivers. Medium-range deliveries (major Indian cities within a day's drive) use either direct delivery or partnerships with specialist cold-chain logistics providers. Long-range deliveries (distant Indian cities and Gulf exports) use air freight with appropriate cold-chain handling.

Within cities, last-mile delivery happens through our local delivery teams and specialist local logistics partners. Apartment deliveries coordinate with building security. Business deliveries happen at scheduled windows matching customer operational needs.

Across all delivery methods, our 48-hour farm-to-doorstep commitment is tracked and verified. Customers who choose subscription delivery receive consistent delivery windows they can plan around. Customers who order ad-hoc receive clear delivery window communication.

Post-delivery: the relationship continues

Our process doesn't end at delivery. Customer communication continues through our account management and customer service teams. Feedback is actively solicited. Quality concerns are handled quickly and fairly. Subscription customers receive proactive communication about schedule changes, seasonal variations, or anything else relevant to their ongoing relationship with us.

For business customers, quarterly business reviews ensure the relationship continues working well. Delivery metrics, quality scores, pricing updates, and emerging needs are all reviewed. Long-term partnerships are maintained through this ongoing attention rather than transactional disengagement.

The takeaway

Our process reflects our values — care for hens, respect for customers, commitment to quality, genuine transparency. Every step from sunrise to doorstep is designed to deliver eggs that justify your trust. If you want to see any of this in person, farm visits are genuinely welcome. The process is something we're proud of, and we're happy to show it to anyone who wants to see.
