Sahya Agro β€” Sustainability report, aerial organic farm with solar + rainwater
ESG + Impact Report

Sustainability + our approach.

How Sahya Agro approaches environmental stewardship, animal welfare, community impact, and responsible business. Honest reporting on what we do well, what we're working on, and where we can improve.

🌱 Environmental practices.

NPOP organic certification.

Our certification under India's National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) is audited annually by accredited certification bodies. NPOP is India's foundational organic framework aligned with global organic standards (USDA NOP equivalent, EU organic equivalent). Requirements include: no synthetic pesticides, no routine antibiotics, no growth hormones, GMO-free feed, detailed record-keeping, chain-of-custody documentation from farm to consumer.

Water conservation.

Haryana's semi-arid climate + groundwater decline make water stewardship critical. Our farm operates drip irrigation for green cover + cattle fodder cultivation. Rainwater harvesting during monsoon captures ~40-60% rainfall for storage ponds. Water recycling from routine cleaning channels to green cover. Groundwater extraction monitored + documented. We're committed to reducing groundwater dependence over coming years.

Feed + agricultural inputs.

Organic feed sourced from certified suppliers maintaining full traceability. Feed ingredients: maize, soybean meal, rice bran, wheat bran, calcium sources, vitamin/mineral mix β€” all organic-certified. No animal by-products in feed. Local sourcing prioritized where organic certification available. Feed consumption + conversion efficiency tracked.

Waste management.

Poultry manure processed into organic fertilizer, sold to neighboring organic farmers. Creates circular economy β€” our waste becomes their input. Spoiled eggs (natural ~2-4% rate) composted + used for farm green cover. Biomedical waste (mortality, routine disposal) handled per government regulations through accredited agencies.

πŸ” Animal welfare.

NPOP organic standards require cage-free access to outdoor range, natural behaviors (foraging, dust bathing, nesting), appropriate light cycles, space per bird exceeding industrial cages. Our flock rotation between paddocks allows pasture recovery + parasite management. Veterinary care provided by qualified professionals β€” treatment documented; antibiotics used only when medically necessary (individual birds, not routine/prophylactic). Mortality rates tracked monthly + investigated when above normal range.

πŸ‘₯ Community + social impact.

Our farm employs local workers from Narnaul + surrounding Mahendragarh villages. Wages above Haryana state minimum wage. Regular employment (not seasonal/contract). Provident Fund + ESI (Employees State Insurance) provided per government regulations for eligible employees. Training on farm operations + quality standards. Priority hiring from local community supports rural employment.

🌍 Carbon footprint.

We acknowledge our operations have a carbon footprint β€” electricity for operations, feed transportation, cold-chain delivery fleet. Current honest baseline:

πŸ“¦ Packaging.

Molded pulp cartons (recyclable + compostable) for retail packaging. Cold-chain gel packs reusable β€” customers encouraged to return or repurpose. Thermal insulation liners partial reuse possible. Working toward reduced plastic in bulk cases + reusable packaging options for B2B customers.

πŸ“Š What we're honestly working on.

Transparency matters. Where we can improve:

🎯 No greenwashing β€” honest positioning.

Sustainability claims are easy to make + hard to deliver. We prefer honest progress over marketing superlatives. Our approach:
